Jacqueline Fernandez hails from Manama in Bahrain. Her family was raised as part of an ethnically diverse family. Jacqueline's parents are Malaysian and the Sri Lankan. The father of Jacqueline is Elroy Fernandez comes from Sri Lanka. Her siblings include two brothers and an older sister. The family moved to Bahrain in the late 1980s as a result of the Lankan civil unrest and hence her birth and education were in Bahrain. After finishing high school in Bahrain she was awarded a Scholarship to the University of Sydney to pursue an Media and Communications Degree in Sydney, Australia. A lover of cultures and languages, she joined Berlitz Language School in which she studied Spanish as well as enhancing her French and Arabic. In addition, she was crowned Miss Sri Lanka 2006 for Miss Universe 2006 on March 6, 2006 and was a contestant at Miss Universe 2006. She entered television after winning her the Miss Sri Lanka title. The show she hosts, Lanka Business Report, is about Sri Lankan business. Padukone's father is badminton-player Prakash Padukone. Padukone has had a childhood in Copenhagen and Bangalore. She played badminton at the national championships when she was an teen, but she gave up her sport career to become a model. Padukone is a native of Mangalorean origins and speaks Konkani as her native language. Her ancestors come from the town of Padukone located in Kundapura Taluk, in the Udupi district in Karnataka state in India. Prakash Padukone has retired as an international badminton player, while her mother also works as a travel advisor.
